Xiaomi 18 Fold is coming in September with a monstrous Xring O3 chip
Xiaomi has confirmed that its next foldable phone will carry the Xiaomi 18 Fold name and launch in September.
That rebrand from Mix Fold 5 to the new name aligns Xiaomi’s foldable line with the numbered naming scheme it already uses across its standard flagship series and signals a broader push toward one unified product family rather than a separate premium sub-brand.
The device will also mark the debut of the Xring O3, the successor to last year’s Xring O1 processor, which scored a whopping 5,228,014 points in the AnTuTu V11 benchmark, a result higher than any other smartphone processor has recorded so far.
That processing power comes from a deca-core CPU built around two C1-Ultra cores clocked at up to 4.35GHz, four C1-Premium cores reaching 3.68GHz, and four C1-Pro cores capped at 3.15GHz, a configuration that mixes three distinct core tiers rather than the usual two.
Geekbench 6.5 results place the Xring O3 at 3,945 points in single-core and 15,221 points in multi-core, with Apple’s A19 Pro still ahead on the single-core test but far behind once multiple cores are engaged.
Xiaomi’s own testing shows the chip outperforming the Xring O1 by 85, 94 and 182 percent across three separate GPU benchmarks, with the new silicon also beating the Apple A19 Pro in every one of those same three tests.
That same chip also supports LPDDR6 memory with bandwidth reaching 113.8GB/s, a jump that lets it handle heavier multitasking loads typical of a large screen foldable running multiple apps at once.
Those combined results suggest Xiaomi’s in-house silicon has matured into a genuine rival for the chipsets Qualcomm, MediaTek and Apple currently offer, rather than a budget alternative built mainly for cost savings.
Xiaomi has not confirmed full pricing or availability details for the Xiaomi 18 Fold ahead of its September event, though the confirmed name change points to a launch drawing closer than earlier Mix Fold 5 rumours had suggested.
Xiaomi is set to treat the September event as the formal launch platform for the new foldable and its Xring O3 chipset, with further specification and pricing details due closer to the on-sale date.
